Walking in the Way

Do you feel lost? Directionless? Perhaps you are uncertain about a choice you need to make that will affect your future, your family, and your security. Or, it may be that you feel stuck in a situation where you don’t even see a path of escape. In times like these, in desperate times, it may seem as if your situation is hopeless, but there is always hope when we place our trust in Jesus Christ.

When Jesus told his disciples that he was going to leave them to return to the Father, he told them that they also know the way to the Father. Perplexed, Thomas said to Jesus, “Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus replied to Thomas, “I am the way.”

In life, we have many decisions to make on a daily basis. We wonder what we ought to wear in the morning, what we should eat for dinner, or how we might spend our free time. Sometimes decisions are more significant. Should a couple try to have a baby? Should a family move into a new home? Should a worker apply for a new job?

Sometimes we wonder about our relationships. Is this person the right person for me to marry? Should I stop spending time with people who tempt me to make decisions that are destructive to my life? Should I start going to church? Should I apologize to my sister for something I did to hurt her? Should I forgive my husband for something he said that hurt me?

In all life’s choices, we have to keep our destination in mind. We are walking toward our Heavenly Father. We are moving, step-by-step, toward a life with Him for all of eternity. But how do we get there? We get there by walking with Jesus every step of the way.

God said through the Prophet Isaiah, “Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19).

If you are having difficulty seeing the way forward, turn your eyes upon Jesus. If you are not certain about the next step you need to take in your life, look upon the Son of God. If you are facing a difficult decision and are afraid that you might make a wrong choice, look to the only person in the world who is able to guide you, one step at a time, safely into the loving arms of your Heavenly Father.

When you walk with Jesus, you cannot make a mistake. When you trust in God to show you the way, you will walk in safety and security. The Bible says that when we commit our way to the Lord, God himself will act on our behalf (Psalm 37:5).

Trust in God to show you the way forward today by placing your faith in Jesus Christ,. He will lead you in the way.
