About Ben Atkins, Counselor, Master of Arts in Ministry

I offer counseling to individuals, families, and partners. My goal is to help others overcome emotional, spiritual, and psychological challenges, including anxiety and depression, grief and loss, addictive behaviors, and relationship problems.

I have over 20 years of experience serving both children and adults in churches, schools, and prisons. I received training as a Christian counselor through Grace Seminary, completing a Master’s in Ministry Studies with a concentration in Counseling in 2023. In addition to my counseling training, I have bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English Literature, and I am currently enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at Grace Seminary.

I have provided counseling in private practice to residents of Olney, Illinois and the surrounding region since 2022,  offering therapy to people from a variety of ages and backgrounds. I also facilitate support groups for grief, mental health, and addiction.

I can assist with coping strategies, communication, and understanding the influence of the unconscious mind. I work by providing a safe, private, and confidential environment where individuals, couples, and families can share their burdens and find relief. In addition to individual counseling, I am happy to work with children and families as well as couples to improve communication and address underlying problems in relationships.

I am not able to accept insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare, nor am I able to provide prescription services or medical diagnoses/referrals.

However, I can help to connect you to professionals licensed to provide these services if you need assistance. I have experience working with insurance companies and private counselors, so I can help you to understand your treatment options in a clinical setting.

If you are uncertain about pursuing counseling, I will be happy to provide a 20-minute initial consultation at no cost.
